A personal welcome in Psirri: Cinque’s Founders’ Edition
A Greek wine bar becomes memorable through the people who welcome you. At Cinque Wine Bar Psirri — The Founders’ Edition, Greg and Evangelia keep that welcome personal: a conversation, a carefully chosen glass and something good to share.

The first Cinque, since 2015
Cinque’s story began in 2015 on Agatharchou Street in Psirri, in the historic centre of Athens. This small wine bar was its first home, created around Greek wine and the pleasure of welcoming people to the table.
Today, the Founders’ Edition preserves that intimate character. Greg and Evangelia host the experience themselves, sharing wines they have chosen and the stories behind them. For visitors discovering Athens, it is a chance to meet the people behind the place. For returning guests, it is a familiar table to come back to.
Start with what you enjoy
You do not need to arrive knowing Greek grape varieties. Tell your hosts what you usually like: a fresh white, a fragrant rosé or a red with depth. That simple conversation gives them a starting point for introducing you to Greek wine.
Choose a glass, share a bottle or ask about a guided tasting. The wines come from Greek producers, with native varieties at the centre of the selection. Ask what is available that evening and let curiosity guide the next pour.
Greek deli flavours, made for sharing
The table matters as much as the glass. Greek cheeses, charcuterie and accompaniments bring different textures and flavours to the conversation, offering an easy way to discover how food changes the way a wine tastes.
That same spirit runs through ESTORA by Cinque, a contemporary Greek kolatsio inspired by the old neighbourhood grocer. Stone-baked bread, Greek ingredients and the pleasure of a simple bite connect the deli tradition with the wine bar of today. Ask about the current selection when you visit.
The spirit of the neighbourhood grocer
In the old grocery shops and kafeneia, sharing did not need a formal occasion. A tin would be opened, a few bites would reach the table and someone would say, “Sit down, let me offer you something.” That memory helped shape Cinque’s Grocer’s Shelf and the way its founders think about hospitality.
On Mondays, that spirit returns through OUR SUNDAY IS MONDAY: a Monday table built around a shared dish and Greek wine. Read the current Monday story for the dish and details before planning your visit.
